The guiding principle of this home is environmental sensitivity. The owners, a builder and a Nordic ski racing legend, have placed high priority on the use of passive energy use principles such as earth berming, natural ground loop cooling, solar orientation and use of thermal mass, as well as the use of low carbon alternative building materials. The house will be dug into the Hulen Meadows bench, overlooking the Big Wood River.
